I've always wanted to go to Europe. In fact, I've always dreamed of roaming all over the world. Well now I crossed one place off my bucket list. I went to Rome and I discovered that going somewhere that far from home is kind of exhausting and stressful and expensive. However, it was also amazing and beautiful and exciting. Matt and I flew to Rome from Atlanta getting in at about 6 am on Saturday. We spent most of that day looking at amazing places like the Coliseum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, and all kinds of beautiful churches. The next day Matt ran a marathon and I didn't wander far from the hotel because I knew I would get lost. On Monday we went to the Vatican. My favorite part was St. Peter's Basilica. It is so big and so impressive. We also went to the Vatican Museum...very big and very crowded. We had some delicious food while we were there and discovered that they won't even give you a glass of water for free in Rome. But they are much more relaxed than us in their pharmacies. I got an asthma inhaler without a prescription for only 5 euros. On the way home we got a first class seat on the plane. Now that is a treat, the ten hours flew by and I almost didn't want the flight to end. Matt and I had to say good bye in Atlanta as he went back to Fort Jackson and I went to Salt Lake City (in a roundabout way). Fun times...I'm sure I'll do it again some day, but not too soon:)

Rome Around The World

So, time alone with Matt and Rome - and first class? What a great weekend. I'm jealous but so happy for you.
What fun! You couldn't talk Uncle Kevin into coming along? :) Rome is awesome, glad you got to go!
You said it perfectly: exhausting, stressful, expensive BUT amazing, beautiful, and exciting. And I completely agree, I definitely want to go back and hope that I will, but I'm not itching to do it any time soon. Not as a tourist anyway.
I will say though, that Rome was the epitome of exhausting and expensive but with awesome must-see destinations. If I were going to go back to Europe, already having seen Rome, I'd recommend Germany/Switzerland/Austria area. Google-Image Hallstatt, Austria. That is an experience everyone needs to have! I want to take Zach there SOOO badly. He would LOVE it.
PEI is not so far. I'm just sayin'.
:]
Yay for you Amber! You two need some more get aways!
i love your hair in the first picture, the long sideswept bangs look so cute on you!
